Open Mercia and the West Midlands Open Data Forum held a workshop in May to bring together data holders and potential open data users to talk about new projects and funding opportunities.

Sam Roberts from Cabinet Office Transparency Team gave a briefing on the Release of Data fund for the Open Data User Group. The fund is open until July 16th.

Paul Beckley gave a briefing on Centro‘s commitment to open data and how that could work in practice. We discussed what help the Forum can offer and new services developers could create with the data. Currently the data request process is informal: if you know which datasets you want, ask Paul.

Small group discussions led by steering group members focussed on the Release of Data fund, transport and health data.

Places were limited to 30 people and sold out quickly. This event was part of Science Capital’s Doing Business with Data day on May 6th.

Since then Centro hosted a very successful day conference on the future of transport. Several steering group members attended The New Journey conference on June 30th.
