Ravi works as an Economic Development Coordinator for the Black Country Consortium, supporting collaborative partnership approaches across the Black Country and working with designated projects and identifying and bringing together capacity from within stakeholders. He is the Project Manager for the Black Country Local Broadband Plan, which involves working with a range of stakeholders, local authorities, BT, and BDUK to ensure the successful implementation of Super-Fast Broadband across the Black Country, and helping secure further funding from Government to extend fibre coverage.
Additionally, Ravi works a 2-day secondment, for Birmingham Science City, via the West Midlands Academic Health Network. Situated in the Institute for Translational Medicine building in the heart of the Life Sciences Cluster in Birmingham, with a particular focus on Innovative Healthcare across the West Midlands.
Ardavan is professor of enterprise systems at Birmingham City University with expertise in systems engineering and cognitive digital systems. He is an advisor to Birmingham City Council on digital systems and architecture, and has initiated a number of projects in the region such as the Data-Intercative Smart Cities, Big Data corridor and innovation Engine in collaboration with industry and public sector organisation. He is also the co-founder of the west midland open data forum and a member of ODI. He is an influencer on digital systems and open data for the west midland combined authority. His research and industrial projects are currently focusing on building an industry 4.0 eco-systems regionally based on cognitive approach and machine learning to automate complexity and enable innovation through collaboration
